I
developed a performance project for the Viennafair 2011 that focussed
on psychological and physical positionings – options and
attempts
– within the field of different social systems. I took place on the lap
of approximatley 200 people in order to start an exchange
regarding this complex of themes by using different levels of
perception. The visual perception channel was fed by a video.
The
soundtrack to the video could be perceived over a headphone, while i
was singing the vocals directly and live into the second ear
of each person. The space was tiny, the closeness was huge.....
This
very intimate situation could be observed from outside by viewing
through optical lenses, which gave the whole situation a strong
voyeuristic
touch. On the other hand, the view from inside to the booth outside got
totally distorted, which created a certain short term
state of confusion.
The
visitors of the artfair had the opportunity to step out of the
artmarket situation for a brief moment to perceive a 1:1 experience
with me in a quite enraptured and unreal ambient.
